Book Review - 34 Bubble Gums and Candies by Preeti Shenoy

34 BUBBLEGUMS AND CANDIES by Preeti Shenoy

I first read the book ‘life is what you make it’ by the same author and since I liked that very much, I wanted to read her other books. So I bought this book.
My first impression on reading the first chapters was like ‘what..?’
I felt like I was reading someone’s diary! Actually that is the truth. They are a compilation of the author’s personal experience. But that slowly changed when I started reading more chapters. It is her autobiography sort of book, but what made it click was her way of narrating things.
You could say an event in many ways, for e.g. the evening has started and the sentence the sun has shun away from the earth like a maiden in love states the same but each has its own effect. This could be very true in this book. I felt like reading it again just because of the way she has penned her narrations. Not everyone has this talent. The author scores in this aspect. Some of the chapters are too foreign that could make a non-city reader to maintain some distance away from the book. In those terms, it is for only the hi-fi society.
The chapters that deal with her parenting, the way her daughter is are all so cute.
Overall I’ll give 3 out of 5 for this book, which I term as passable.
